I am sure this girl’s resolutions are to eat more fruit and do more yoga.
I resolve to read a Dickens novel. I think David Copperfield.
I also want to run 753 km which will get me to the purple level in the Nike Plus regime. I have been rubbish with my running – it became a chore and all the snow meant I hardly ran at all in December. The snow is gone and I have enough chores so I am doing short runs and enjoying them. I know that target is only 14 km a week but I have stopped running recently so I think that is achievable. That is what I want to do.
It makes me nervous – can you tell?
How about you? What are your resolutions? One of them should be to watch this video. Please do so and then you may consider yourself a success.

I adore Tanya Davis…I have that video in my favorites on You Tube!
Can one of my resolutions be to eat more chocolate?
I think your resolution is a good one…don’t worry, just breathe and take a step.
As for me, one is that I’d like to write more letters, something that I love to do, but gets lost in the everyday shuffle.
I’ve given up making new year resolutions yonks ago as it’s become quite a futile effort. Instead, I find it more useful to set my goals as and when the need arises, be it early in the year, middle of the year or later.
I like the video, Poppy. Thanks for sharing it.
There is such truth in the statements:
“But lonely is a freedom that breathes easy and weightless, and lonely is healing if you make it.”
“It’s okay if no one believes like you, all experiences unique, no one has the same synapses, can’t think like you, for this be relived, keeps things interesting, life’s magic things in reach …”
Note to self: You are a wonderful person alone, aside from what others think and aside from the company you are in or not in. What is important is that you care about yourself.
Thank you for the beautiful video, Poppy, and you’ll run more now I’m sure.
Kate, Poppy just got packed off but says to tell you that she agrees with your resolutions, especially the chocolate one.
Mindy, I don’t ordinarily make resolutions either, though I have a to do list that never gets finished because I keep tacking onto the end of it.
But for this year we’ll say my resolution is to finish the book I’m writing, which I said elsewhere.
Hey Dev, Surely your resolution should be ‘give Poppy LOTS of spankings’
I’m sure you could keep that resolution, assuming Poppy doesn’t keep running off.
You beat me to it! Oh well, my message is a bit different for my post, so I’ll still post the video. No more letting the cat out of the bag on Twitter. (And next time I need to find more alone time faster to make my posting!)
Happy New Year’s, Poppy! Good luck on achieving your resolutions!
Hugs,
Pink
Hi!
So, in the interests of being ultra clear about how Pink and I posted on the same viral here is the Twitter thread.
Now this seems like I copied!
I am really looking forward to reading her post.

So the moral being – well I am not good on morals but I just wanted to show how we both posted on the same thing and make it ultra clear that no one was copying anyone. Except both of us copying Post Secret and the amazing Tanya Davis.
Poppy, good morning. :rainbow :rose
:
You will achieve whatever you set your mind on, believe it.
I don’t mind company, but I’m happy with my own. :!:
I stopped making new year resolutions many years ago, still what needs to get done, does.
What a lovely video, definitely a keeper.
Enjoy this holiday.
Love and warm hugs, :love :4leaf
Paul.
Good morning!
(Sorry- had to do that other reply first- like housekeeping!)
Kate, she is amazing and I agree about both chocolate and letters. Except I think I need more letters and less chocolate. I have done three runs in the last four days (New Year’s Day was not a day for running.)
Mindy, I think you are right about the timing of changes – this year I just feel now is the time. I am feeling better since I decided these things and I think that is just what you meant.
That is a wonderful note to self.
Dev, you are almost finished. It is going to be wonderful. I am so excited.
Pink, get posting so I can read more of your stuff which is always super delicious. And Happy New Year to you, again!
Paul, good morning to you too. It is a lovely video, isn’t it? You sound most wise in your approach to everything. I want this holiday to go on and on but it won’t. How unfair is that? I think going back after Christmas is the worst return ever.
I am in a grump about it. If I sulk will my boss give me more time off, do you suppose?
The video is lovely Poppy, I find it interesting where I can and can’t be alone. Quite happy to be alone at home or out for a walk, but eating out in a restaurant alone I find dreadful!
I used to make new year resolutions about the things I struggled with so I always ended up breaking them within a few days! I am making a plan this year for the things I want to achieve and how to go about it, I’ll let you know if that’s any better! It feels a bit more positive. I don’t run but want to walk more, still planning the specifics!
You are far too original to copy anyone!
Great video! The line that struck me the most today was this one:
“If you have an art that needs practice, stop neglecting it” How many of us have let a beloved hobby go due to busy-ness? I can’t remember the last time I played my piano or did a project on my weaving loom. Or doodled in the sketchpad I use for drawing mandalas. I miss it.
So now I have my one and only resolution for the year – I will make time each week to do something creative.
On a side note, I am more of a visual than an auditory learner, so sometimes I need to SEE the words rather than hear them, in order to understand. So I went looking for a transcript of this video and found it here, in case anyone else is like me in this regard:

Thank you, Poppy, for the inspiration!
Alice, I do want to know how your plan goes. I really do. And walking is fantastic and helps a person feel better about things. I walked my way through the heartbreak of a horrid relationship once- I looked down at my body after six months of angry walking (it really was a rubbish breakup) and I was skinny and could run. I was amazed. Walking is wonderful- go to it! And thank you for the last bit- kind and I hope true.
Kevin, I see your comment but it is not here. I will see if I can work it out.
Season, thank you so much for finding that transcript. That is a fantastic resolution. I think we let the busy things go sometimes because we think other stuff matters more which is missing the point about life rather, isn’t it?
You draw mandalas? I do adore you. Have a rose. :rose
Kevin- your comment was a reply to what Dev said and I have to tell you that I am so well behaved I simply do not need spanking- it is all the running. (Hmmm- not lots of running yet- but I will be going again in a bit.
Oh, I didn’t mean to suggest you were copying. Really, I did not.
Sorry, I’ve been grumpy this weekend and everything I did was tinged with grouchiness. And, no, I don’t need some “motivation”.
I reread the post I had written and that, too, sounded grumpy. So it’s scrapped!
I do love the video though, and the transcript is wonderful, Season!
Oh, I see! Well, Kevin, you might say that your suggestion amounts to a sort of ongoing resolution, renewed daily.
Quite resolutions, Poppy
Mine is to love myself too, and try to be more satisfied with my life, stress less, try to live more in a moment :love

Oh, Pink- that is awful I hate weekends like that.
Doesn’t it sometimes feel like the universe has met up behind your back and plotted to make everything a bit rubbish for a few days? I know just how that feels and it can make you want to just kick things.
You are such a wonderful writer and such a lovely woman that I know you cannot be grumpy for long-the universe must be very fond of you.
Big, big hugs.

PS
Dev! Stop it! I have been good for hours. (Note how you did not get a kiss. Bet that makes you sorry for colluding with Keving- huh?)
PPS
Maria, those are beautiful resolutions! xx

No colluding, Poppy, just two Tops talking shop. You have been extraordinarily good for several hours, and I’m not even the least bit suspicious, yet.
Poppy, thank you for this, and Season, thank you for finding the transcript. Tomorrow I take the last of my very loved people to the airport, and my holidays are over. I am looking forward to the quiet again, but I will miss everyone and I know I will have some lonely moments. This will be what I listen to/read when I need to remember what I already know inside.
I have some ideas for the coming year, and I have already begun them. It has never worked for me to wait til the New Year, as much as I like the symbolism of it. It is better to find what I need and then take a deep breath and begin.
I am packing up the last of the cookies and holiday sweets, though, to either travel with my daughter to her college or to go into the freezer. And I am back to my “limited sugar” regime. That is not about denial. That is about what is best for me.
Hugs to everyone for New Year’s. I am glad to start a new year with all of you. :love
