“Before Punishment” by Ferencz-Franz Eisenhut (1857-1903)
What do you suppose will happen to them?
I think they look beautiful. I am keeping this imagining strictly non-historical as the political and personal rammifications of …. blah blah blah.
I still think they look beautiful and peaceful. I like to think they are whispering erotic bits of speculation to one another.
The man at the side bends one ear to listen closely. He carries his sword, not as a threat, but rather as a piece of decoration.
I am having to work hard at keeping this a pretty imaginative play.
What do you think? Beautiful work of art that you can let tease you, or something that makes you a bit serious and grumpy?
I think the woman are painted so beautifully that the artist cares for them and will let no harm come to them. They seem to be at peace, no tension in their bodies. I think it will all be ok.

This is a tough one Poppy. When I first look, I’m immediately drawn to the vibrant reds…her hair and the beautiful rug under them…I love the shimmer on the fabrics, the bolster under her back, the contrast of their bodies side by side. They look peaceful, bonded together.
Then my eye moves to the stocks(!) which keep them from getting away and to the guard with the sword…both of which turn up a sense of dread in my tummy. It makes me reconsider if their ease is just them being resigned to whatever will happen.
Whatever the case, it’s a stunning piece of art and gives someone a lot to consider.
I do not think the man with the sword is there to hurt the girls. I think he always has the sword, his manner is so casual that he shows no menace. I think he is there to protect the women, the harem.
It is so beautiful, isn’t it?
Maybe the guy trapped the girls only, because those two are fast in their moves and even if they promised to be there for the guy in the evening, they would have forgot anyways and maybe go pick flowers, take a swim or something and not show up… They don’t look threatened or scared, maybe just slightly bored in their relaxation
Hugs!

Poppy, nice piece of art, whoever painted this knew redheads, the skin tones are amazing.
The man with the sword is obviously a guard, after all the harem is part of a princes treasure.
The richness of the colours feeds my imagination.
The girls don’t seem worried at all.
Have a good Friday.
Love and warm hugs,
Paul.
Oh, how beautiful. Have you read “The Aviary Gate”? It’s about an English girl, the daughter of some nobility I think, who gets shipwrecked and ends up in a Harem in Constantinople, while her fiance searches the seas for her. It’s lovely, and parts of it are very hot!
I have not read that book, Viola. I will look for it forthwith.
Paul, I will not worry about these girls. I also love the way that the redhead is painted – I think she looks wonderful.
Maria, I love your take on the story behind the painting. I think you are exactly right.
I suspect they are in the stocks because the orange girl on the left used up the entire bottle of liquid tanning lotion, didn\t ddo a very good job, and did not leave any for the extremely white girl.
Hugs,
Hermione
A beautiful painting Poppy. The poor pale skinned girl look so uncomfortable and I think she is try to attract her guards attention but he looks away.
LOL Hermione’s comment.
Have a good weekend.
Love,
Ronnie

I am chortleing – spelling is hard.
I’m going with Hermione’s comment, too. That made me laugh.
That is an amazing painting. It’s the first time that I have seen it.
Another thumbs up for Hermione’s comment

Quite agree that the girls are in no serious peril here, and I too was amused by Hermione’s comment. The red haired girl’s is quite a familiar hue to me, though the hair isn’t at all what I’m used to. Also her back is bent exactly the wrong way from the way I bend the redhead I know.
Also, congrats, Poppy! This post got Chrossed!
Thank you!
Harrah for Chross!
Their feet will be caned.
It hurts…………… for days.
Bastinado is really not my thing but thanks for your input. Also, I checked with these girls an they both got a light spanking and then a snuggle – isn’t that lovely?
Dexter says bastinado is God’s way of saying you need glasses ‘cos you missed. I have no idea what he means.
