Rainbow

It is dark and it is cold.

I have spent the weekend being very cold but in right sunshine and breathing in air so clear and sharp that it almost hurts.

And now I am home again and preparing for another week of work and meetings and late nights and nose to grindstone.

But I won’t be sad or fed up. I won’t wait for the holidays to be happy or bright.

Here is a rainbow for you.

I know it may seem strange for a girl to show girls being pretty on her blog but I like seeing pretty girls, I like seeing girls in bright colours. It is a reminder not to wear dark colours all winter. It is a reminder to spoil yourself and to take care of yourself.

I think January can seem like the month to be horribly hard on yourself and February too. Until the 14th when we are all supposed to be loving. Well, I think we should be kind and loving as much of the time as possible.
For me a bath makes me feel better but I seldom remember to take one. I shower because it is efficient and makes sense.

Well, lots of things make sense and we do them every day. We all work very hard and make sensible choices all the time.

I miss so much about the summer; I miss the light nights, I miss driving home from work and feeling as though I have half the day ahead of me, I miss waking up in the morning in bright sunshine and getting dressed slowly, I miss summer dresses, I miss wriggling my red toe nails an the sunlight.

We should make up for that lost summer in dark times.

We can’t sway the season around, we can’t stamp our feet and alter time and fast forward to the moment we want.

We can’t for lots of reasons but amongst them is we may miss something wonderful waiting for us in the dark. Last night I stood outside on crunchy grass, in moonlight bright as day and watched snow on distant mountains. The whole valley was silent. I was very cold, very tired and in total awe of the unexpected beauty.

So I have decided to bring What I need of summer to February.

I want a bit more lazy in my day, I want bright colours and the smell of flowers. I want to feel lighter and prettier and as though I am not in the underworld waiting for release.
