Love Our Lurkers

Today is magical delurking day (or something) and it is the day to encourage you to just say hi. Lots of blogs are doing it, I was asked and you know what an obedient girl I am.

I understand the beauty of lurkdom, the silence and the peace. I understand how rewarding it is to dip in and out and not have any obligation to say what you think or feel.

I have lurked. I have lurked many places. I lurked everywhere that would have me.

But today is de-lurk day.

Every morning (at about 6 am- a horrid hour) I look at where you are from on my google analytics page a ery clever place) and I am always amazed and humbled. I go the map of the world and look and see where you are and what you have read and how long you read it for and I am just thrilled.

All those people and all those places and me learning to write and making a million mistakes and you reading anyway, it amazes me every day.

I would like you to say hello but more than that I want to say thank you.

New Zealand – home of the All Blacks, how do you(r) ladies do anything but look at the thighs of those men and just sigh? If I had to leave this sceptered isle, and if you would have me, I would love to live in New Zealand. Such a stunning country and no massive spiders. I have an idea for a post based on the Haka but I have no idea if it would be annoying. And Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has saved my life more than once – thank you for the wine.

Australia- Thank you for Hugh Jackman and wombats. Don’t wombats get really hot with all that fur? How does that work? I know your weather is much better than New Zealand weather but the huntsmen. I can’t cope with them. I admire you for that. OK- what happens if you (or your beloved) is OTK and they see a huntsman on the floor? What if the cunning spider sees that and jumps up onto your head? OK, we have to change the subject now.

France- Bonjour France. I have spent several summers basking in your heat and cakes and cheese. One of my ambitions is to visit Versailles – one day I will, although I am scared you would throw me out of your country once I admitted to only drinking decaffeinated coffee but at least I can order it in (faltering French).

Germany – you do the best castles and have those huge amazing forests. How you find the time to do anything other than wonder around looking at both amazes me

America – too big to make one comment

Texas- now look here Texans, you know I like you. That is a hard thing for an English girl to say so I am stopping now.

New York- I thought you would all be too busy and too cool to read a little blog like mine, I imagine you in high rises dashing from errand to errand and squeezing me into your busy week. It makes me smile.

Ohio- I don’t know anything about Ohio but I know I have lots of people from Ohio that have found my little corner. That makes me wonder if maybe there is something about Ohio …

And then there is Florida, California, Nevada and so on and so on. I have to stop but hello.

Japan, India, Thailand , Saudi Arabia– I know the internet is international but still I wonder how anyone found here at all.

Canada and Spain and Norway (I went swimming in the Arctic circle once brrrr) and Portugal and Israel and oh a million other places (well fifty eight countries). Hello.

And all those people from home. I am a bit shy of you because you know me better because , well, because the chances are we share some referances. So a very quiet hello to you.

Please, please will someone say hello back?

To comment – just press anonymous and leave one word (or more if you wish)

A word like “hi” or where you are from (a country is fine but if you are in Texas you had better say so).

Or I will think you are all fictional and be terribly confused and bereft.

Thank you, just in case you do say hello.

(I am utterly convinced that I will not get one reply and I will have to send a fake one just to look like I am not a total failure. If I do I will send it from somewhere silly just so you know it is me.)

Poppy….I am outing myself as one of your lurkers…I love your writing, and admit to being more than just a little jealous of your relationship ;o) I lurking from the Netherlands and have been for a while…I am an Australian (not in the slightest bit scared of huntsmen or any other type of spider in Oz…seriously…most of them can't kill you ;oP)…and I laughed out loud when you said Marlborough Sav Blanc has saved your life before…i know and hold that to be 100% true for myself as well…as much as it pains me to admit that my Antipodean brothers make far better wine than we do (sometimes hehehe)…and as for rugby….well…YUMMY…is all I can say….mmmmmmmm

But most of all I wanted to say thanks…reading blogs like yours have helped me so much on my own journey that I would be lost without them and I realised how churlish and impolite I was being by not stepping up and saying that…I do not take your blog or any of the other wonderful blogs out there for granted…especially ones that deal with a journey I cannot take alone but cannot share with anyone else in my life.
Thanks…and nice to meet you ;o)

i am a lurker from arizona. you are such a wonderful writer, poppy – and your raw honesty, is a pleasure to read. i know Delin from the shadow lane parties – well, in fact, i only met him at one of the parties, where he was the mystery spanker. i am so, so glad that you have found one another – you are BOTH treasures.

i hope that our paths cross one day. i wish you the very best.

While not exactly a lurker here, I wanted to take this opportunity to say once again how much I appreciate that you share your inner world of experiences with us through this blog.

Can't remember who said it, but I've heard tell that the only question we can really ask each other is "What is your experience".

And that's what your blog is all about. I enjoy your unique perspective on spanko culture and your role in it.

    Thanks, Poppy!

  4. Hermione says:

    Hi!

I'm a regular visitor to your blog, and enjoy your posts. I love the first picture!

LOL day is so much fun!

    Hugs,
    Hermione

I can't tell you how excited I was to see comments when I got home!
Hi Radioactive Girl, thank you for the comment but may we focus on the spider thing? Most of them can't hurt you but some of them can. Well that isn't a massive comfort. Do you have some kind of school class where they teach you not to be scared? You have biiiiiiiiiiiiiigg spiders but you also have biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig rugby players too, so I suppose they cancel each other out.
Hi Naxie and thank you too. You met Devlin at a party… I am so keen to know if he spanked you. I am not excepting a reply to that at all but I had to ask.
Hello Karl and thank you not just for your comment but for your support. You help so much with this blog with all your support from Spanking Scouts and with your good advice in the early days.
Hi Hermione and for you with your fantastic blog to have the time to look at mine is a massive compliment.

  6. Paul says:

Poppy, not a lurker, but I love your blog, you write so well.
Please do continue I would miss you.
    Warm hugs,
    Paul.

  7. Poppy says:

Thank you Paul and there is not the slightest suggestion of me doing anything but carrying on!

  8. Casey Morgan says:

Poppy, I have been reading your blog for a while now and always love it. Where do you find all these beautiful images? I tried to comment one time, but I think the comment vanished, so this must be the official delurk.

This comes to you from busy NYC where we always find time in our hectic days to read your submissions. Wink I love that you go weak in the knees for the Texans and here is why: I can't seem to get over my hard-wiring for Englishmen. I tell myself there must be an Englishman somewhere with a soft spot for a soft American accent, and while you are not an English-man, and Texans don't have soft accents, I think you get the picture.

I love your perspective. Thank you for your blog!

  9. Dr. Ken says:

Hi, Poppy and Happy "Bend over, young lady" day….
    Or is that every day?
Oh, that's right…it's LOL day! I'm not really a lurker, but I hope you get a lot of comments….

    Dr. Ken

  10. Poppy says:

    Hi Casey,
Thank you so much for your kind comments and for delurking. I am certain that there are stacks of Englishmen around with a penchant for an American accent. What a shame there are no Texans with a penchant for an English accent.
    Sigh.
    Smile
Hello Dr. Ken and NO! It is not Bend over etc day- no day is the day for bending over unless there is a bar of chocolate on the floor.

  11. AboutSpankings says:

Have been reading pretty much from the start. Thank you for sharing such a lovely blog and… Happy LOL Day!

Hi Poppy, just found your blog recently and haven't read much yet – but I love the pictures Big Smile

I'm from the UK, but we've been warned that dangerous spiders are starting to enjoy living over here as well now the weather is getting warmer!

Keep posting, and I'll keep reading!

    Take care

    Hi

I love your blog, you have a beautiful way with words that I envy so much. Thank you from Massachusetts.

  14. devlinoneill says:

There's one Texan I know who loves your English accent, Poppy. It isn't my fault I can't do a Texan accent all the time. That's why they made me leave. Well, that and the fact I refused to buy a pickup truck.

NAXIE! Delighted to see you, young lady, but did you misspell my name on purpose. You know better than that.

And yes, Poppy, I did spank Naxie because she is a naughty girl and gets even naughtier in the midst of a spanking – arguing with me, telling me it isn't in her best interests to have her bare bottom smacked, citing questionable statistics and twisting the assertions of famous philosophers in a vain attempt to prove her case. Reminds me of at least one other naughty girl I know for some reason.

Excellent turnout, Poppy, and a very well done invitation to delurk. The day isn't over yet, at least not in Texas, so perhaps a Texas Texan will visit yet. Perhaps if I shout YEE-HA! that will draw the attention of one from his after work longneck and he will respond. Worth a shot.

    Hello Poppy!

I just recently stumbled upon your blog and already it is becoming a favorite of mine. I haven't been able to live out my fantasies just yet so blogs like yours are true treasures for me. Thank you for allowing me a small glimpse inside your world Smile

My verification word was Bratica, LOL.

  16. Anonymous says:

yes, he DID spank me, poppy – and you can read all about it on HIS blog…he has a three part thingy about the shadow lane party in march – and i THINK it was in his second post about the party, where he talks about being the mystery spanker at the brat's breakfast. and as i recall, i posted a response to HIS post….so you will see BOTH sides of the story…

and Devlin – i mostly know how to spell your name but sometimes, if i am eating chocolate and writing, a letter or two, have to be sacrificed…so, i lost the v in your name….but i didn't drop any of the chocolate…..i am SURE that you understand…

  18. Michael says:

Hi Poppy, not a lurker as you know but just wanted to congratulate you on the quick success of your amazing blog. Great turnout for LoL Day and that is a reflection on you and how you touch people with your warmth and honesty. Keep up the wonderful work. Smile

  19. Bonnie says:

    Hi Poppy,

Thanks for the lurkers' world tour. I love the map, but there might be some trouble ahead for the Atlantic and Indian oceans.

Thanks for being part of our LOL Day celebration!

    Hugs,
    Bonnie

  20. Poppy says:

Hi Todd and Suzy, I had ni idea you read here and I am thrilled to find out that you do. Thank you.

Hi Roger, it is great to hear from you but please don't say that about spiders again, although they have been getting bigger haven't they?

Hello Anonymous- thank you so, so much for de-cloaking. Please keep coming by and chime in whenever you wish.

Lizzy- cute name and thank you for stopping by and please remember that it will not happen until it does. That sounds silly but one day, if you want it to, it could happen. Oh- I should write these when I haven't had a 53 hour day at work. I met himself by delurking almost a year ago, I made a comment and one thing led to another and another and there have been days when I could hardly sit down.

CD and Michael – thank you so, so much. It is posible to be honest when there are people like you around to be honest to.

Naxie- I am going to read that post right now. I would like to see a photo of him in his tux though- do you suppose there is one around?

And Bonnie- THANK YOU!!! I had no idea what fun it would be.

  21. SPANKEDHORTIC says:

Ah all those places to visit and get thrashed Smile a bit late but Happy LOL day.

  22. devlinoneill says:

They look rather dry for oceans, Bonnie. I'd want to moisten them considerably before proceeding. And those shorts have GOT to go. Besides blocking the entire Arctic region, I'll bet they're deuced uncomfortable.

  23. Anonymous says:

I just wanted to say "hi" from Minnesota, USA, where the thought of pulling down our "knickers" right now for anything makes our hearts as cold as our bums would be! I also think the only good spider is a dead one, and as much as I have wanted to visit Australia, anything that deserves the name of the one you've been describing (I can't even type the name without feeling panic) will ensure that I give a visit very careful deliberation first.
    Anyhow, thanks for your blog!
PS, where do you find those fantastic pictures?
    Joanna

  24. Anonymous says:

no tuxedo pics…..no pics at all, in fact….but for SURE, if you ask him for one, he won't be able to say NO to you…..right?? *LOL*

Happy 'Lurkers Day' Poppy. May you be given 6,12, or 25 strokes of the cane, on that bare voluptous bottom of yours, preferably from me.

  26. Anonymous says:

A bit late, I know, but I hope you will accept a little love returned from this delighted lurker
    in the UK!

  27. Poppy says:

Prefectdt- thank you so much for dropping by- it is lovely to see you here.

Hi Joanna and welcome from Minnesota- I know someone wonderful who lives in Minnesota, wonderful and fab woman so I have a soft spot for all Minnesotan women- don't know any men from your neck of the woods. Anyway, I am glad to have a friend on the spider issue and the pictures are from all over the place. When I started this blog I had not one picture and in the last couple of monhs i have spent hours searching for pictures. They matter don't they?

Naxie- I have asked, he doesn't have one. Men just don't think of these things do they?

Sixofthebest- thank you for the offer but I will take chocolate if it is all the same with you. I believe we hav discussed this before, have we not?

And m- I consider myself a lucky girl indeed to be offered a little love and accept it with joy. Thank you so much,
    xx
