School is out because it is August and I am a grown up but it is never too late or the wrong time to learn a new skill.
Here is my homemade lesson on physics. Physics is very hard, it is science and science is tricky because it has lots of made up rules.
It took a long time but here is my raft. I had to learn about how to make floats (they must stick out at the sides and they provide upthrust) and how to make a anchor. It may interest you to know that you cannot weigh down a raft on water with a bottle filled with water. It needs stones, lots of tiny stones.
I used my knowledge of physics to make the raft and then, in the interests of science, I had to see if it could support stuff, well an implement to be precise.
I found out that it could support an implement and I think seeing as I learned so much, the owner of said implement should have had a more robust sense of humour and a greater respect for scientific research.
AND I have learned to post pictures. ![]()

Whooo hoo, Poppy is live!!!!!
Very amusing blog hun…like the raft.
Hugs jay
Thank you so much Jay. It is a little like throwing a party and hoping to God that someone turns up.
Thanks for your help and support.
Hey Poppy, popped over from Jays.
Hello and a very warm welcome to our community.

Congrats on the picture posting. I know "tech" is not your thing. See you're using Picassa. Looking forward to the growth and flourishing of your "blog self"!
Thank you Karl!
I did not know I was using Picassa but there it is anyway. "Tech" is very much not my thing but it is yet anither learning curve.
Poppy, you write beautifully, I knew this from Devs' blog.
Jay told me that you are blogging, welcome to our world.
Warm hugs,
Paul.
Oh, intelligence and spanking, the very best combination! I especially enjoyed your post on scolding–lots to think about. Thank you.
cheers!
Carly
Hello Poppy,
Jay calls me dad, you have an interesting blog and are a skilled writer. Thanks for the entertainment.
Peace,
Davey.
Paul, Carly and Davey,
Thank you so much for your very kind comments. I will keep working at the blog and see if I can keep it like Jay!

Fascinating physics dissertation, Poppy, but I doubt anyone is surprised that I was less than amused by your experiment. And what if it had rained before I got home? Would you have abandoned your lunch prep and jumped into the pool fully clothed and grabbed my cute little hand-stitched harness strap? That tea towel you wrapped it in would not have saved it long from a Floridian deluge.
And what about the physics involved when I had to use the pool brush to push that damened jug of rocks all the way to the shallow end in order to retrieve your rascally raft? I think I should be excused a lack of humor, or humour, after such an aggravating effort.
Also missing in this ramble is any mention of the physics wherewith I applied said harness strap to your impudent situpon, once I rescued it from its watery perch. The strap is short and narrow, and can be used in a number of ways to impart sting to an upturned bare behind – a two-tailed tawse, doubled like a belt, across both cheeks at once or one at a time, or even turned to spank up and down rather than side to side. The variations are myriad, though I do recall your not caring so much how as how hard. Still I believe you were remiss to leave that part completely out of your post.
Those issues aside, I like your new blit, Poppy. It's very sweet. Like you.

I had a plan in case of rain.
I would have pointed and said, "Look, darling, it is raining." and you would have dealt with the situation because you are like that.
As it was I do believe that you dealt with the situation in a manner that was just not needed. I was learning about physics after all. I think you should encourage my self improvement.
And blushes.
